Unlike most new machines from Caterpillar, the 903C Compact Wheel Loader is designed to be atypically low-spec. Jeff Brown, Senior Project Engineer, says the Cat 903C Wheel Loader was designed to operate in corrosive environments, minus the onboard electronics that can create issues in the field.
In addition to taking out the onboard computer, the company built the 903C Compact Wheel Loader with a mechanical engine and simpler controls, as well as wiring harnesses and sealed connectors for protecting the electrical system from corrosion. This size and type of machine is ideal for snow removal, landscaping, and agricultural applications, which are brutalized by road salts and fertilizers. The price of the 903C Compact Wheel Loader offers excellent value for customers using 80 percent buckets and forks, according to Brown.
The same attachments that work on Cat Skid Steer Loaders or Compact Track Loaders can be used with the 903C's skid steer-style coupler. The 903C's cab sits up higher than a Skid Steer Loader, and offers improved visibility to the rear for enhanced safety.
