The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has a regulation to reduce emissions from existing off-road diesel and large spark ignition vehicles used in California as well as covering the new changes in PERP regulation and the Portable Engine ATCM. CARB is providing three unique training opportunities through Hawthorne Cat to help fleet owners understand and comply with these regulations.

Course #CR101: PERP Regulation and ATCM

This one-day course is designed for both air district staff and the regulated public and will provide information on the requirements of both the Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP) Regulation and the Portable Engine Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM). These two regulations have been recently amended, and this course will provide detailed information about all of the changes.

Course #MS504: In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation

CARB has a regulation to reduce emissions from existing off-road diesel vehicles used in California in construction, mining, and other industries. The regulation for In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Vehicles (Off-Road Regulation) requires fleet owners to report to CARB and label off-road vehicles as well as reduce the emissions from older equipment.

Topics include:

  • The applicability of the Off-Road Regulation
  • Requirements currently in effect
  • Future compliance deadlines including fleet emission requirements
  • Overview of the Diesel Off-Road Online Reporting System (DOORS)

Course #MS505 Large Spark Ignition (LSI) Fleet Regulation

Do you own or operate Fork Lifts in California? CARB is offering this training opportunity for fleets to learn about the requirements of the LSI Fleet Regulation. Training will also cover the additional reporting and labeling requirements and other changes that were added in spring 2016. Owners of off-road vehicles with LSI engines are strongly encouraged to attend. One-on-One help will be available after the presentation.

  • Current fleet average requirements
  • Recordkeeping requirements
  • Recent amendments to the regulation
