  • A color LCD display unit is standard. The display functions as a gauge cluster as well as provides diagnostics and additional data to the operator. Machines that are equipped with Cat Compaction Control output compaction measurements to the display as well.
  • The standard operator seat design rotates to the right 20 degrees and integrates the propel stick and control console on the right armrest. The design allows the controls and display to comfortably follow the operator as the seat is rotated. ROPS/FOPS configured machines will have a vinyl, all-weather seat. ROPS/FOPS Cab configured machines will have a cloth seat. A deluxe, high-back, air-ride seat is available as an option on Cab-equipped machines. The seat has a retractable seat belt.
  • The ROPS/FOPS Cab is an enhanced design that provides greater comfort for the operator. The cab features a multi-position steering wheel that adjusts for operator comfort. An adjustable, pivoting cloth seat with a high-visibility orange seat belt and integrated operator display keeps controls and operating information within easy reach. A 12-volt adapter provides power for personal electronic devices. A floor mat reduces vibration. Glass panels and large exterior mirrors provide excellent views to the rear of the machine. Operator comfort is enhanced with climate control, including a heater and air conditioning. Large windows on the door and right side of the cab open wide for maximum ventilation. A cloth headliner provides a smart, finished appearance. An interior mirror package and a deluxe, high-back cloth seat are available as an option.

Outstanding Visibility

  • Unobstructed view to the drum allows operator to see compaction path for proper overlap, verifying scraper efficiency, and watching for obstructions.
  • The rear vision camera enhances visibility for more complete operator control and safety.

Reliable Vibratory System

  • Vibratory soil compactors deliver enhanced compaction performance as the result of an increase in amplitude. Maximum amplitude provides a greater ability to put compaction energy into the ground.
  • Padfoot drums are ideal for compacting cohesive and semi-cohesive materials and can be equipped with either Cat exclusive oval pads or conventional square pads. The oval faced design provides deeper lift penetration, contributing to better overall compaction in cohesive soils than other pad designs. The square faced design provides optimal performance on semi-cohesive soils. It has a higher surface area, which allows it to create a good surface seal; but the larger face area does not allow deep lift penetration.
  • Performance models utilize the proven Cat pod-style vibratory system. The system design significantly reduces the risk of contamination common to conventional designs that employ metal weights. Providing unrivaled reliability and performance, the Cat pod-style vibratory system is virtually maintenance free, with the first scheduled maintenance period at 3 years or 3,000 hours.
  • When vibration is engaged, vibration will cease as the compactor slows beneath a predetermined speed. When propel resumes vibration recommences at a predetermined speed. This feature contributes to uniform, high-quality work.

Easy to Service

  • The cooling package tilts for easy cleaning. Normal cleaning ensures that the cooling systems protects the engine to full capacity.
  • Long service intervals contribute to more productivity and lower owning and operating costs. The vibratory system scheduled oil change interval is 3 years/3,000 hours. The hydraulic oil service interval is 3,000 hours. Engine oil service is every 500 hours.
  • The hitch features sealed-for-life bearings that never need greasing.

Powertrain

  • Automatic Speed Control allows the operator to select a maximum working speed. Once selected, the speed can consistently be reached by engaging the propel lever to the full stroke. Consistent speed contributes to compaction quality making it easier to maintain compaction uniformity.
  • Performance Vibratory Soil Compactors are equipped with a large cooling package and a variable speed fan. The system helps keep operating temperatures within optimal ranges. The variable speed fan reduces power draw by only operating at the speed that is necessary to cool the system. The reduced power draw contributes to more efficient use of fuel. Vibratory Soil Compactors feature engines that offers enhanced efficiency, better serviceability, ample power, and less noise. This innovative combination yields cleaner combustion and delivers steady power in all operating conditions with optimal fuel efficiency.
  • Equipped with Eco-mode, a function which helps to economize the use of fuel. When machine idles for a predetermined amount of time, Eco-mode is engaged and the engine rpm is lowered. When the propel is engaged, higher engine speeds resume. For certain applications, Eco-mode can be engaged to operate the engine at lower rpm than normal. The lower engine speed results in less fuel burn. Eco-mode can also be programmed to shut down the engine entirely after a user-defined amount of time.
  • The exclusive Cat dual pump propel system provides steady hydraulic flow for unmatched gradeability and blade function and now has been enhanced with electronic control for even better performance. The dual pump propel system provides separate hydraulic flow to the rear wheels and drum for exceptional tractive effort in thick lifts, soft underfoot conditions or steep slope applications and allows for superior control on a grade in forward and reverse.

Versatile Compaction Technologies

  • Optional MicroVibe compaction system offers ultra-low vibration ideal for working near high-sensitive areas or structures.
  • Accelerometer-based (CMV) measurement technology available to help operator determine when compaction has been completed to specification for greater productivity and uniform compaction quality.

Sustainability

  • The Cat® C3.6 engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage IV emission standards.
  • Cat diesel engines are required to use ULSD (ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel with 15 ppm of sulfur or less) or ULSD blended with the following lower-carbon intensity fuels up to: 20% biodiesel FAME (fatty acid methyl ester)** or 100% renewable diesel, HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) and GTL (gas-to-liquid) fuels. Refer to guidelines for successful application. Please consult your Cat dealer or "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations" (SEBU6250) for details.
  • Auto engine idle shutdown helps reduce unnecessary fuel burn and greenhouse gas emissions by allowing the engine to automatically go into idle mode when the machine is not working.
  • A well-trained operator is worth the investment. Skilled operators benefit your bottom line by maximizing productivity, avoiding costly downtime, and maintaining jobsite safety - which can help to improve fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Extended maintenance intervals not only reduce downtime but can decrease the amount of fluid and filters that are replaced over the life of the machine. The hydraulic oil can be replaced every 3000 hours, eccentric housing oil can be replaced every 3000 hours, and engine oil changes can be 500 hours.
  • Performance and safety can be augmented with standard and optional cameras that are viewed on in-cab displays.
  • Cat Compact technologies help you consistently meet compaction targets faster, more uniformly, and in fewer passes - saving on fuel and reducing rework and material costs.
  • Cat Scheduled Oil Sampling (S•O•S) Services helps reveal excessive wear, contaminated fluids or other "unseen" issues that can shorten component life. In many cases, you can extend oil and coolant change intervals by using fluid monitoring. Consult your Cat dealer or the machine's operation and maintenance manual for more information.
  • Remote Flash for engines helps to minimize downtime and maintenance time while keeping your asset running with maximum efficiency. Alerts for machine updates are sent virtually from your Cat dealer and updates can be deployed without a dealer technician needing to be onsite.
**Engines with no aftertreatment devices can use higher blends, up to 100% biodiesel.
