Hawthorne Cat Provides Industry Expertise at the 14th Annual Camp NAWIC
On June 24, 2022, Hawthorne Cat lent their expertise at Camp NAWIC. The event took place at the AGC San Diego’s Apprenticeship Training Facility, 10140 Riverford Road, Lakeside, CA 92040
This unique summer training camp (June 20-24) offers free hands-on workshops for female high school students (grades 7-12) interested in non-traditional construction careers. Students have the opportunity to learn the basic skills needed to enter a trade such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, solar, surveying, heavy equipment and much more. The students also learn the concepts of team building and team approach in completing their tasks. Most importantly, they develop greater self-confidence and better self-esteem as they tackle and successfully complete challenging projects.
On the last day of the workshop, the girls learned how to operate Cat machines used on construction sites. Hawthorne provided machines and instruction to the students along with a food truck lunch for the students, staff and their families.
